Risks is a poetry book about life and the joy of risks taken. It features mostly small poems that Eva calls “one-liner poems” because they are no longer than a line. The chapters are: Sweet, Animals, Salt Water (sweat, crying, and the ocean), Feels, Family, and School and Work, which are symbolised with emojis. The last chapter includes traditional free verse poems, which are multiple lines long.

Eva is always writing down what she hears when she comes across interesting things that people say, and these “quotes” make up many of the “one-liners.” The idea is that the “one-liner” poems can tell a story on their own, yet are not too detailed, leaving room for curiosity.
